IT Institute Course Schedule
Courses are being offered for the Winter, Spring/Summer and Fall Semesters.
IT Institute Certification Capstone Courses
The Capstone concept is designed to give students the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to organize and synthesize knowledge as developed throughout their academic and professional careers, and to defend positions on current issues in information technology, and the larger, dynamic information environment. The capstone course will allow students to practice the skills and knowledge acquired in a focused and intentional manner with other IT professionals, improving community among participants. This concept supports the pedagogical principles and practices that are integral to most masters programs.
These online courses are completed at a pace driven by candidates. However, participation in discussion forums is mandatory and will enhance the learning experience for the entire class. Weekly sessions are presented with a lecture on the topic, a research assignment, a discussion forum question and a written assignment. Weekly papers should be no more than three pages in length, double-spaced, 12-font with reference citations and a list of works cited. Papers should be written using an accepted and consistent thesis paper format. Kate Turabain's A Manual for Writers of Thesis, Term Papers and Dissertations is recommended as a reference. That reference and others are readily available in bookstores or on the Internet. There is a requirement to submit a thesis paper at the end of the course based on an approved thesis and research question.
Candidates for certification will complete independent research and write assignments on topics as well as produce a paper that will represent the culminating project for the course. Three (3) Continuing Education Credits will be granted for all courses. The length of the course is 14 weeks. The certificate upon completion will be granted from Auburn University in partnership with the BDPA IT Institute.
