Epsilon Awards Program

In this economy, many African Americans in technology are concerned about opportunities for both employment and advancement. It is important to recognize exceptional companies that provide African Americans with challenging and fulfilling career opportunities in Information Technology. The Best Companies for Blacks in Technology are announced each year and recognize the outstanding achievements of companies who have demonstrated a commitment to people and an understanding that Diversity has a bottom line business case value.

Answers to survey questions pertaining to areas of organization and professional development will assist BDPA in making an assessment of the workplace and career development climate within your organization. Survey responses are confidential and are evaluated by an outside organization.

Participation Requirements

Have a minimum of 1,000 regular U.S. employees ("regular" employees does not include temporary employees, etc.
Participation Benefits

Companies who earn a spot on this list:

  • Receive substantial national and local publicity
  • Attract and recruit the most talented employees, clients and customers who appreciate doing business with companies that are recognized for creating great workplaces for employees
  • Have an opportunity for well-earned recognition at the National BDPA Conference
  • Realize positive financial results

Corporate Epsilon Awards Program Schedule:

  • Register for the program and request nomination survey by March 15th
  • Submit completed survey by April 15th
  • Best Companies for Blacks in Technology Award Winners announced by May 15th
  • Awards presented at the
    • National BDPA Technology Conference in July.
    * Best Companies for Blacks in Technology Awards presented to the "Top Companies for Blacks in Technology"
    * Prestigious Epsilon ("Star of the Highest Magnitude") Award presented to the "Top" company for Blacks in technology

Individual Epsilon Awards

BDPA Epsilon Awards Recognizing Individual Achievement are awarded to technologists who are nominated by BDPA Chapters or sponsor government organizations, companies and corporations. BDPA Epsilon Awards go to individuals nominated by BDPA sponsor companies or BDPA Chapters in the following five categories:

  • PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT
  • CAREER ACHIEVEMENT
  • OUTSTANDING TECHNICAL CONTRIBUTION
  • COMMUNITY SERVICE
  • MOST PROMISING TECHNOLOGIST

The Selection Panel is looking for role models, people who can inspire both young people and professionals. We look for "first African-American" stories. Would you like to recognize your top achievers?

All you have to do is submit your application to the National BDPA Office by March 31st.
